{"id":8562,"date":"2020-05-25T18:26:35","date_gmt":"2020-05-25T17:26:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.swissphilanthropy.ch\/2020\/05\/25\/inaugural-report-for-the-covid-19-solidarity-response-fund-for-the-world-health-organization\/"},"modified":"2020-05-26T08:46:23","modified_gmt":"2020-05-26T07:46:23","slug":"inaugural-report-for-the-covid-19-solidarity-response-fund-for-the-world-health-organization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swissphilanthropy.ch\/de\/2020\/05\/25\/inaugural-report-for-the-covid-19-solidarity-response-fund-for-the-world-health-organization\/","title":{"rendered":"Inaugural Impact report for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The first impact report for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization has been released.<\/p>\n<p>It covers the period between the Fund\u2019s launch on March 13 to May 1, 2020 and provides updates on the early use of the Fund\u2019s resources, as well as details about WHO\u2019s and its partners\u2019 efforts to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, consistent with the Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan (SPRP).<\/p>\n<p>Generous donations have helped WHO and its partners lay critical groundwork for curbing the spread of the virus and mitigating its worst effects, especially for low-resource countries, as well as coordinating and accelerating research and development efforts around the world.<\/p>\n<p>As pointed out in the report and through May 1, the Fund disbursed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>More than $75 million to WHO to procure and distribute essential medical supplies, including personal protective equipment (PPE), and testing kits to 135 countries<\/li>\n<li>$10 million to UNICEF for its COVID-19 work supporting vulnerable countries with access to evidence-based information; to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and basic infection prevention and control (IPC) measures; and to care for vulnerable families and children<\/li>\n<li>$10 million to the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI) to support several research programs on potential vaccines, including three that are now in Phase-1 clinical trials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.swissphilanthropy.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/Covid19-fund-Impact-Report_may2020.pdf\">Read the full report<\/a> <span id=\"ember644\" class=\"ember-view\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first impact report for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization has been released.
