Transnational Giving Europe (TGE) is now Giving Europe

New year, new (na)me

Today (10 Feb. 2026) the Transnational Giving Europe announced it is kicking off the new year with a new name and brand. The network, which facilitates cross-border philanthropy in Europe by providing a safe and tax-efficient way for donors to give, will now be known as Giving Europe.

“We’ve listened to our network of non-profit organisations, donors and partners and we understood it was time for an update. The new look and website better reflect where we are today – and more importantly where our ambitions are taking us,” stated Anne-Laure Paquot, Network Manager at Giving Europe.

Bulding legacy

The network was established in 1995 by four leading European foundations : the King Baudouin Foundation in Belgium, the Fondation de France, Juliana Welzijn Fonds in Netherlands, and the Charities Aid Foundation in UK. Their shared mission was to enable, improve and facilitate cross-border philanthropy in Europe.

In 2024, Giving Europe helped channel 27.5 million Euros from donors across Europe. With over 1300 non-profit organisations vetted and registered on their platform, Giving Europe serves donors and non-profit organisations in 19 countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

In 2025, coordination of the network was transferred from King Baudouin Foundation to Philea. This transition is aligned with Philea’s mission to overcome the legal, administrative, and fiscal barriers faced by European foundations when acting across borders.

“There is a strong need for a single market for philanthropy in Europe. The current legal, administrative and fiscal barriers European foundations face when acting across borders, are estimated to cost them around €90,000,000 to €101,700,000 per year. Until this is resolved, Giving Europe is the best way to give further than your own borders in Europe – and we’re proud to support this work,” added Delphine Moralis, CEO of Philea.

Welcoming change

At Swiss Philanthropy Foundation, we welcome this dynamic evolution with great enthusiasm for its contribution to our shared mission.
As swiss representative since 2008, we look forward to continuing connecting Europe to Switzerland and providing a simple, safe and tax efficient way to donate.
