March 2018: Return on the field trip in Africa

In the frame of its thematic funds, Swiss Philanthropy Foundation in collaboration with WISE – philanthropy advisors traveled to East Africa to identify and plan the implementation of projects in the field of access to employment for disadvantaged young people and health and healthcare, for instance the maternity of pregnant young women and whose activities promise of a positive and sustainable impact.

This field trip was a great occasion to visit the projects funded by the Foundation in Uganda and in Tanzania in the same fields. The Foundation has also started a new project this year in Dar es Salaam supporting women with obstetric fistula.

I was amazed at how much surgical (fistula) surgery had an impact not only on the medical and physical, but especially overall, on the daily lives of these brave women who can reconstruct their live with their family and build self-confidence.” Says Sabrina Grassi, Director of the Operations of the Swiss Philanthropy Foundation.
