In recent days, our thematic fund Empreinte revealed encouraging prospects ! The latest reports highlight how our projects are bearing fruit.
In Switzerland, ProSpecieRara is working, in collaboration with its network of breeders, to improve the protection and dissemination of endangered breeds. Within one year, the project ensured the breeding of 251 animals from threatened breeds, which are now ready to be reintroduced into the networks. At the same time, the network has grown stronger with the arrival of 19 new breeders : a great addition to the collective effort.
In Brazil, Renctas continues its fight against the national and international online wildlife trafficking. On the one hand, the organization exposes traffickers who use social media to sell products derived from the capture of wild animals. So far, 16 convictions have been obtained, along with the seizure of 166 items linked to trafficking. On the other hand, at the local level, the project supports the creation of alternative sources of income for communities: whereas ornaments have traditionally been crafted from bird feathers, Renctas is helping these communities produce ornaments using feathers made from recycled PET. Thanks to these collaborative efforts, the organization has observed the safeguarding of 3,000 birds, the liberation of local communities from the grip of traffickers, and the promotion of their financial independence.
These results send a strong and promising signal for the future: an inspiring boost for our thematic funds, which are now preparing to embark on a new year filled with projects and ambitions!
