Since the end of September, Lebanon has suffered a tragic escalation of hostilities with more than 3,000 dead and 13,000 injured (Lebanese Ministry of Public Health). Bombings are hitting urban centers, leading to the destruction of homes and infrastructure and massive displacement.
More than 1.2 million internally displaced people from southern Lebanon have sought refuge in Beirut and the north of the country. Among them, more than 250,000 people are sheltering in schools and other collective structures, which have now reached their full capacity, exacerbating an already critical situation.
With its Rapid Response Fund, which it activated on October 1st, Swiss Philanthropy Foundation has collected donations totaling CHF 277,000 to date and can thus support local organizations in its ecosystem already known and identified by WISE Philanthropy Advisors, helping displaced families:
Insan and arcenciel are continuing their efforts to provide food to the most vulnerable families.
Ana Aqra, newly supported, will provide essential assistance to more than 500 displaced people, with a focus on children deprived of education and living in critical conditions.
This third project developed with Ana Aqra and just launched aims to:
Create inclusive and secure spaces to welcome children (3 to 14 years old) and their displaced families who have taken refuge in schools in Mount Lebanon and Beirut.
Facilitate structured leisure activities, psychosocial support and capacity building that promote well-being and resilience.
Distribute essential products, including warm winter clothing, to 525 people (children and adults).
Our commitment: rapid action where the needs are most urgent and a guarantee of the impact of your donation.
